Lisa Batiashvili

The Georgian-German violinist Lisa Batiashvili is acclaimed by fellow musicians worldwide for her virtuosity and has been an exclusive Deutsche Grammophon artist since 2010. At the age of eleven, she moved with her family to Germany, where she studied with Mark Lubotsky and later with Ana Chumachenco. She achieved second prize at the Sibelius Competition, becoming the youngest participant in its history. Described by The Times as a 'consummate musician,' Batiashvili was named 'Instrumentalist of the Year' by Musical America in 2015 and received the prestigious International Accademia Musicale Chigiana Prize from Italy. Her first album for the yellow label, 'Echoes of Time,' won an Echo Klassik award. In 2021, she founded the Lisa Batiashvili Foundation, a non-profit organization dedicated to supporting talented young musicians in her native Georgia. The foundation has already awarded scholarships to five music students, whom it aims to support at the beginning of their professional artistic careers.
