Cantate Domino
For the first time, a studio album of significant musicological value has been produced in the historically significant Sistine Chapel. "Cantate Domino" offers a glimpse into selected choral works and a unique experience of one of the holiest and most tradition-steeped places in the world. The Papal Choir, which has existed since 1473 and is thus one of the oldest church choirs in the world, consists of approximately 20 adult singers and around 30 to 35 boys' voices.[4][2] In addition to the choir's centuries-long tradition of regularly performing at papal celebrations, the album features works composed specifically for the popes – including world premiere recordings such as Palestrina's "Sicut Cervus" and rarely heard liturgical treasures by composers such as Lasso and Allegri. A particularly noteworthy recording is a previously unknown version of Allegri's "Miserere," performed in the style of the early 17th century under the direction of Monsignor Massimo Palombella[1][4]. The collection "Cantate Domino," with its spiritual and meditative music, offers a unique experience and allows the special atmosphere of this sacred space to be felt.
