Max Richter Max Richter, a German-born British composer and pianist, is one of the most influential figures in the contemporary music scene. His fusion of classical techniques with electronic technology has garnered him a global following and paved new paths for a generation of musicians. Richter, who studied at the University of Edinburgh, the Royal Academy of Music in London, and completed his studies with composer Luciano Berio in Florence, works in the realm of post-minimalist and contemporary classical styles.
In the early 1990s, he co-founded Piano Circus, a six-piano ensemble.
