Sergei Babayan
Martha Argerich and the Armenian pianist Sergei Babayan have enjoyed a close friendship for nearly three decades. Together they have recorded an extraordinary album showcasing Babayan's arrangements of Sergei Prokofiev's stage and film music. The album includes transcriptions of works such as Romeo and Juliet, Hamlet, Eugene Onegin, The Queen of Spades, and War and Peace, arranged for two pianos. The passionate and virtuosic collaboration between the two artists impressively expresses their intense musical partnership on 'Prokofiev for Two'. While Argerich describes her musical connection with Babayan as a fascinating form of alchemy, Babayan experiences making music with Argerich as a dialogue with a higher power.
