Alfred Brendel presents a collection of previously unreleased live recordings from Vienna. Besides Schumann's Piano Concerto in A minor, Op. 54, which Brendel expressly praises for the Austrian Radio's excellent interpretation, the recording also includes Brahms's Variations and Fugue on a Theme by Handel.
The Vienna Philharmonic is conducted by Sir Simon Rattle. The recordings were made during Brendel's residency in Vienna in 2001 to celebrate his 70th birthday. The release is complemented by an original introductory text written by Brendel himself.
