Album insights
Rafał Blechacz is still a strong advocate of Chopin's music, understanding the composer's bond with his predecessors. His dedication to Chopin's artistry predates his victory at the 2005 International Chopin Piano Competition in Warsaw. Now, the Polish pianist is releasing another album dedicated to Chopin, featuring Piano Sonatas No. 2 and No. 3 along with Nocturne Op. 48 No. 2 and Barcarolle Op. 60. Blechacz expresses that he feels as if he has lived through adventures with these pieces before recording them, enabling him to explore dynamic contrasts and emotional extremes more freely today. He states, "I didn't want to delay this recording any longer." Widely acknowledged for their technical demands, Chopin's second and third piano sonatas have long been part of Blechacz's concert repertoire, allowing him to trust his intuition and convey both structural clarity and shifting moods in his interpretations of the two sonatas. The pianist's wide-ranging concert experience is reflected in his choice of accompanying pieces. "I've performed this repertoire worldwide, in a myriad of concert halls and on diverse pianos. Sharing the beauty of these compositions with my audience has been a crucial aspect for me."
