Released in 2019, the album "Across the Stars" features a collection of legendary film melodies by John Williams, specially adapted for star violinist Anne-Sophie Mutter. Williams himself conducted these new arrangements of his iconic compositions. The selection includes classic themes from "Star Wars" such as "Rey's Theme" and "Princess Leia's Theme," as well as pieces from more recent works like "Hedwig's Theme" from the first Harry Potter film and "Sayuri's Theme" from "Memoirs of a Geisha." Mutter, who grew up in the Black Forest listening to the music of "Star Wars" as a teenager, describes this collaboration as a milestone in her career, raving, "These melodies touch us so deeply; they simply stay with you." For collectors, there is a limited deluxe edition with five bonus tracks and an exclusive DVD featuring a conversation between the violinist and the composer. The album presents a total of 17 tracks, including "Markings," a work composed specifically for Mutter.
