Continuing their celebrated Bruckner cycle, Andris Nelsons and the Gewandhausorchester present Symphonies Nos. 6 and 9, accompanied by works of Richard Wagner, including Siegfried Idyll and the Prelude to Parsifal's first act. Andris Nelsons, now a three-time Grammy winner, infuses Bruckner's powerful scores with an uncommon lightness and lyrical moments. The sixth symphony, renowned for its structural clarity, stood as one of Bruckner's favorites. Its defining dynamics harbor a darkly unsettling Adagio at its core, reminiscent of Mahler's influence. Over a span of a decade until his death, Bruckner meticulously crafted the ninth symphony, which he himself described as his boldest symphony.
