The Freiburg Baroque Orchestra (FBO) has signed a long-term project agreement with the renowned Deutsche Grammophon label. In their debut recording, they explore Mozart and his connections to the musical center of Mannheim. The release paints a musical portrait by combining Mozart's own compositions with works by composers he would have encountered during his time at the court of the music-loving Elector in the late 1770s. World premieres on this album include Christian Danner's Violin Concerto in F major – performed by the FBO's artistic director, Gottfried von der Goltz – as well as works for orchestra or smaller ensembles by Carlo Giuseppe Toeschi, Christian Cannabich, and Georg Joseph "Abbé" Vogler. The recording also features the Symphony in C major, K. 208/102, Mozart's reworking of the overture to his serenata Il re pastore.
