The Seasons
On November 1, 2024, Bruce Liu's second DG album, "The Seasons," will be released. Following the great success of his first album, "Waves," which was dedicated to French composers and nature motifs, the pianist now turns to Tchaikovsky's intimate and expressive solo piano music. For Liu, this project represents an opportunity to explore personal feelings. He envelops the Russian composer's profoundly poetic musical language with musical freedom. The artist says that what is special about this work is that it feels as if Tchaikovsky is speaking to himself while composing. It combines folk elements, which also characterized his ballets, with the brilliance and exuberance of his concertos, while at its core lies a contemplative tranquility. The album will be released digitally, on CD, and on vinyl. A performance video for the piece "October" will be released simultaneously. The CD version also includes Tchaikovsky's "Romance in F minor, Op. 5" as a bonus track. The album is also available in Dolby Atmos®.
