Barrie Kosky directs Mozart: Così fan tutte

In the finale of his Mozart/Da Ponte cycle for the Wiener Staatsoper, director Barrie Kosky turns his vivid imagination to the world of the theatre itself. In Kosky's lively production Don Alfonso – the romantic cynic who sets the work's farcical machinations in motion – is a theatre director rehearsing a play, with the opera's two couples at the centre of the story. The comedy unfolds with Kosky's trademark exuberance, featuring winning performances from a stellar cast including Christopher Maltman (Don Alfonso), Federica Lombardi (Fiordiligi) and Emily D'Angelo (Dorabella). Philippe Jordan conducts from the pianoforte in this widely praised performance.
