Chilingirian String Quartet with Nobuko Imai: Haydn & Beethoven

In this 2001 performance captured at London's Wigmore Hall, the Chilingirian String Quartet appears with violist Nobuko Imai, whose long international career has included collaborations with many of the world’s foremost chamber ensembles. The programme pairs two landmarks of the Classical repertoire: Haydn's Op. 77 No. 1, one of his final reflections on the quartet form, and Beethoven's Quintet in C major, Op. 29 – his only original work for this combination of instruments and still an uncommon presence in the concert hall.
