Martha Argerich, Daniel Barenboim & WEDO: Schubert & Tchaikovsky

Every Martha Argerich performance promises to be special, and so it proved on one memorable evening at the Salzburg Festival in 2019, when the Argentinian pianist – for many simply the greatest living pianist – returned to Tchaikovsky’s celebrated First Piano Concerto, a work that has remained a cornerstone of her select repertoire for decades. Alongside Daniel Barenboim and the West-Eastern Divan Orchestra, Argerich brings all the spontaneity, brilliance and risk-taking that have made her artistry legendary. Balancing the Tchaikovsky, Barenboim conducts Schubert’s “Unfinished” Symphony, another cornerstone of the Romantic repertoire, to which he and his orchestra bring a special dramatic weight.
