Biography of the Visionary Conductor
Born in 1968 in Regensburg, Alexander Liebreich discovered his passion for music early on. At just 17, he founded the Regensburg Chamber Choir, dedicating himself to contemporary choral music. He studied at the Munich University of Music and Performing Arts, as well as the Mozarteum in Salzburg. Key artistic influences came from Michael Gielen and Nikolaus Harnoncourt, while Claudio Abbado mentored him and invited him to major productions at the Salzburg Easter Festival with the Berlin Philharmonic.
Following his studies, Liebreich gained valuable experience as an assistant and guest conductor with renowned orchestras before setting new standards as chief conductor of the Munich Chamber Orchestra. For over a decade, he shaped the ensemble with innovative programming and outstanding interpretations. He later took over the Polish National Radio Symphony Orchestra (NOSPR), further expanding its international reputation. He then led the Prague Radio Symphony Orchestra and assumed artistic direction of the prestigious Richard Strauss Festival.
Since 2022, Liebreich has served as chief conductor of the Orquesta de València and artistic advisor to the Palau de la Música de València. His programs unite Spanish musical traditions with major symphonic works and contemporary compositions.
