To properly honor Rachmaninoff's 150th birthday, pianists Daniil Trifonov and Sergei Babayan released a joint album of piano duets by the renowned Russian composer.
The recording, made in May 2023 during a live concert at the Vienna Konzerthaus, includes the two suites for two pianos as well as an energetic duet interpretation of the Symphonic Dances. Sergei Babayan highlights Rachmaninoff as an extraordinary master of the piano: Through his works for two pianists and two grand pianos, he opens a window for us laypeople into the world in which he once performed solo at the piano.
