Max Richter
To mark the 20th anniversary of his 2004 album 'The Blue Notebooks', composer Max Richter is releasing a digital deluxe version and a limited vinyl edition. The work, which was created in 2003, is named after Kafka's collection of writings, 'The Blue Octavo Notebooks'. At the 2023 Glastonbury Festival, Richter, together with his string ensemble and Oscar winner Tilda Swinton, presented the complete album and explained: 'The album is, in a way, a work of protest, a response to the political situation during the preparations for the Iraq War, which filled me with doubt. I thought of Kafka, the patron saint of doubt, and wanted to create a piece that expresses all of that.' The anniversary edition includes all the tracks from the 2018 15th Anniversary Edition, including the mashup 'This Bitter Earth/On the Nature of Daylight' on vinyl for the first time, as well as a new solo piano interpretation of 'On the Nature of Daylight'. This exclusive vinyl edition comes in a newly designed blue case with crystal-clear records and is complemented by a booklet, an art card, and photos from the 2023 Glastonbury performance. Each copy is individually hand-numbered.
This vinyl edition is available for purchase on vinyl for the first time .
