Across the Stars John Williams and Anne-Sophie Mutter collaborate once again to perform Williams' Violin Concerto No. 2 for the first time.

The album is released as a special Blu-ray single edition and presents all tracks in Pure Audio, including surround sound and Dolby Atmos. The edition also includes video footage of last summer's Tanglewood premiere of the Violin Concerto, as well as the duo's encore of "Across the Stars" from Star Wars: Attack of the Clones. Three newly arranged film score pieces performed at the Boston concert are also included. A 25-minute interview between Williams and Mutter, recorded at Tanglewood, is also part of the album. The three film score pieces are also available exclusively on vinyl from the DG Store. Williams describes his Violin Concerto as a dedication to Anne-Sophie Mutter and her masterful violin. The recording for Deutsche Grammophon was made with the Boston Symphony Orchestra under Williams' direction, shortly after the world premiere in July 2021 at Tanglewood. The Boston Globe gave special praise to Mutter's interpretation at this premiere. In addition to the expressive and highly personal concerto, the album includes three extraordinary film music encores: newly arranged themes by Williams, including works from Star Wars and Indiana Jones, never before heard in this form. Mutter's virtuosic technique, her expressiveness, and her warm tone characterize both the violin concerto and the film melodies.

The album features newly arranged themes by Williams, including works from Star Wars and Indiana Jones, which have never been heard in this form before.
