Renaud Capuçon The internationally acclaimed French violinist Renaud Capuçon is not only known as a soloist and chamber musician, but also directs several prestigious festivals. He is particularly committed to supporting young talent and regularly commissions new compositions. Capuçon recently signed a contract with Deutsche Grammophon. The label's debut album is a duo recording with the renowned pianist Martha Argerich, featuring three outstanding sonatas for violin and piano.

Capuçon and Argerich have been performing together as a duo for twenty years, appearing at international festivals and in concert halls worldwide. This album was recorded live during the 2022 Easter Festival in Aix-en-Provence. They dedicated this special performance to the late American pianist Nicholas Angelich, a close friend and artistic collaborator of Capuçon. The program includes Schumann's Sonata No. 1, Op. 105, Beethoven's famous "Kreutzer" Sonata No. 9, Op. 47, and Franck's Violin Sonata in A major.

Capuçon emphasized that the authenticity of this concert recording would be virtually impossible to achieve in a studio setting. He considers the collaboration with Martha Argerich an honor, yet experiences it as a completely natural process. Through their music-making, Argerich brings out artistic aspects of him that would otherwise have remained hidden.
