Released by Deutsche Grammophon, the project 'In 27 Pieces: The Hilary Hahn Encores' represents a significant collection of short violin pieces. With this work, released in 2014, the violinist intended to revitalize and redefine the often-overlooked genre of short-form music. For this initiative, Hahn engaged 26 renowned composers, including Mason Bates, Jennifer Higdon, and Einojuhani Rautavaara, with the final participant selected through an online competition. Following performances of these works on tour, she recorded them with pianist Cory Smythe at Teldex Studio in Berlin. The recording won a Grammy Award in 2015 and is considered one of her greatest achievements in the field of contemporary music.
