El Sistema

The Venezuelan music education program "El Sistema" looks back on four decades of success. The infectious energy of the young musicians permeates the anniversary album, which impressively showcases their joy in playing. Gustavo Dudamel recounts how music positively influenced the lives of his friends. His parents once decided to enroll him in "El Sistema"—the program born from the vision of one man. José Antonio Abreu, composer, politician, and educator, started 40 years ago in a garage with just eleven children, aiming to teach music on a small scale. From this idea grew a state-supported social project that continues to produce exceptional musical achievements. Abreu received numerous awards, but the true legacy of his work is revealed in this recording. From works by Beethoven and Dvořák to South American compositions, the program lives on in this album. Happy birthday, El Sistema!
