Daniil Trifonov
The first studio recording by acclaimed Russian piano virtuoso Daniil Trifonov pays tribute to his musical predecessor, Sergei Rachmaninoff. This collection unites well-known pieces with rarer works and also includes the world premiere of his own composition. As an heir to the Russian tradition of pianists and composers like Rachmaninoff, Trifonov combines romantic sensibility with youthful technical brilliance. His captivating interpretations inspire and move the listener. The fascinating program honors his musical ancestor through three different Rachmaninoff variations: virtuosic variations on themes by Corelli and Chopin, the famous Paganini Rhapsody, and Trifonov's own creation, 'Rachmaniana'. Accompanied by the Philadelphia Orchestra under the direction of Yannick Nézet-Séguin, Trifonov demonstrates both his exceptional piano technique and his compositional creativity.
