Under Andris Nelsons, who became Gewandhauskapellmeister in 2018, the Gewandhausorchester has Bruckner's music ingrained in its DNA. The orchestra and its conductor are now concluding their highly acclaimed joint Bruckner cycle, uniquely combining the symphonies with orchestral works by Wagner. This concept was a natural choice for Nelsons, considering Bruckner's deep admiration for Wagner and his engagement with Wagner's music. For the first time, Nelsons and the Gewandhausorchester present Bruckner's Symphony No. 0, alongside Wagner's overtures to "Rienzi" and "The Flying Dutchman".
