The outstanding ensemble of singers is led by Piero Cappuccilli in the title role and Shirley Verrett as the power-hungry Lady Macbeth. The cast is complemented by the brilliant Nicolai Ghiaurov as Banquo and the impressive Plácido Domingo as Macduff.
