The Art of the Mandolin

With his album "The Art of the Mandolin," Avi Avital pays special homage to the versatile instrument, highlighting its rich history. The Grammy Award-winning Israeli mandolin virtuoso has recorded original works for the mandolin together with the Venice Baroque Orchestra and harpist Anneleen Lenaerts. The program ranges from compositions by Vivaldi, Scarlatti, and Beethoven to modern works by Ben-Haim, Henze, Sollima, and Bruce. According to Avital, the recording reflects the interplay between the mandolin's history and present, showcasing the diversity of classical mandolin music. For nearly two decades, Avital has established the instrument as a fixture in the classical music world by collaborating with leading international orchestras and performing in prestigious concert halls. "The Art of the Mandolin" thus marks an important milestone for the instrument and its repertoire.
