Album insights

The Argentine pianist Daniel Barenboim, known for his lively interpretations, and the Venezuelan conductor Gustavo Dudamel, with his exuberant temperament, form a perfect duo. Barenboim has been playing Brahms' two piano concertos, representing different periods of his career, since 1958. These concertos, known as "Piano Concertos No. 1 & 2," are considered among the greatest creations ever composed for pianists. Brahms' Second Piano Concerto, a lengthy and intricate piece with four movements, is particularly notable in this genre. In September 2014, an unforgettable live recording took place during Barenboim's concert at the Berlin Philharmonie, featuring the Staatskapelle Berlin conducted by Dudamel. This live recording of both piano concertos will be released as a double CD by Deutsche Grammophon.
