Album insights

Joachim Roedelius, a pioneer of Kosmische Musik and Krautrock, significantly influenced these music genres through his work with Cluster and Harmonia. Having over a hundred releases to his name, Roedelius collaborated with a diverse range of musicians, from long-time partner Dieter Moebius to international figures like Brian Eno and emerging artists such as Tim Story. Arnold Kasar, nearly three decades younger and shaped by Berlin's 1990s Crossover scene, bridged the gap between electronic dance music and jazz through projects with Micatone, Nylon, and Friedrich Lichtenstein. During joint recording sessions in Baden near Vienna, Roedelius embraced playing the piano early on, while Kasar suggested using felt to prepare the instrument, resulting in the album's distinctive, delicate, and intimate sound. Kasar praised Roedelius's gentle touch on the keys, emphasizing his intuitive approach devoid of formal training or structured compositions, likening it to his mastery of synthesizers, an ineffable quality that resonates deeply within him.
