Ray Chen

This collection of Ravel's works includes not only popular compositions such as Boléro, La Valse, and Daphnis et Chloé, but also rarer pieces, interpreted by violinist Ray Chen and pianist Yuja Wang. The piano concertos, also part of this box set, were recorded with Wang, who previously collaborated with the Zurich orchestra as Artist in Residence in 2014. Under the direction of the young conductor Lionel Bringuier, for whom Ravel's music has been a defining influence, the Tonhalle Orchestra Zurich presents its first Ravel recording. Wang herself describes a deep connection to Ravel's compositions since her European debut with this orchestra. The recordings, made in the acoustically superb Tonhalle Zurich, promise an impressive listening experience.
