Filmed live at the Seoul Arts Center, this recital brings together cellist Kian Soltani — one of the most prominent cellists of his generation — and pianist Jaehong Park, a rising presence on the international stage. It begins with Schubert’s Arpeggione Sonata, its long, flowing lines offering a reflective opening to the programme. Reza Vali’s Persian Folk Songs follow, in which traditional melodies take on vivid contemporary colour. After the interval, the programme turns to Rachmaninoff’s Sonata in G minor, a work of broad emotional scope and close-knit dialogue, in which the songful cello is matched by a piano part of famously fiendish difficulty.
