It's what you might call a triple-threat: three supreme masters of three very different branches of the pianist's art, united by friendship, mutual respect and an irrepressible creative spirit. Rodion Shchedrin is the pre-eminent Russian pianist-composer since Shostakovich; Chick Corea was a jazz legend who transcended genre. Nicolas Economou is less well-remembered now – he died tragically young in 1994 – but he was one of the outstanding performers of his generation. And on this one night in Munich in 1985 they came together and improvised at glorious length: a feast of pure, uninhibited musicianship captured live on a single unforgettable occasion.
- Soloists:
- Chick Corea (Piano), Nicolas Economou (Piano)
