Maya Plissetskaya & Nicolas Economou: Dance Impressions

Filmed in 1990, this studio encounter brings together prima ballerina Maya Plissetskaya and pianist Nicolas Economou in a rare dialogue between movement and sound. Rather than dancing to a fixed score, Plissetskaya shapes the atmosphere in real time, and Economou responds with a sequence of improvisations, following her gestures and shifts of mood at the keyboard. What unfolds is a spontaneous exchange in which music and dance develop side by side, each shaping and sharpening the other.
