Maurizio Pollini
The Italian pianist Maurizio Pollini, deeply connected to Chopin's music since childhood, released a remarkable album in 2017. 'Chopin - Late Works, opp. 59-64' features selected late works by the Polish composer, written between 1845 and his death in 1849. The collection includes the Barcarolle in F-sharp major, the Polonaise-Fantasy in A-flat major, and a selection of mazurkas, waltzes, and nocturnes. These technically demanding yet always enchanting solo piano works are brought to life by Pollini's masterful interpretation. Reflecting his lifelong devotion to Chopin, the album was followed in 2019 by a further release of Chopin's works.
