Album insights

Yannick Nézét-Seguin, a highly acclaimed young Canadian conductor, is set to commence the 2013/14 concert season and kick off his three-year residency at Dortmund's concert hall on September 19th. Opening with Tchaikovsky's Pathétique (Symphony No. 6), the performance will feature the Rotterdam Philharmonic Orchestra, where Nézét-Seguin serves as the principal conductor. Notably, the concert hall in Dortmund, known for promoting classical music to younger audiences, is preparing for this cultural highlight, extending beyond NRW. Coinciding with his inaugural concerts, Nézét-Seguin will also lead the Philadelphia Orchestra in launching their 2013/14 season. The Deutsche Grammophon will release the concert programs for both events: Tchaikovsky's "Pathétique" in Dortmund and "Hommage à Leopold Stokowski" in Philadelphia. In accompanying press materials, the conductor will elaborate on his interpretive approaches and personal connections to these performances.
