To mark the 30th anniversary of the New Century Chamber Orchestra, Daniel Hope has released the album "Music For A New Century," offering an exciting glimpse into the postmodern musical landscape. Four exceptional works, commissioned specifically for the orchestra, form the heart of this recording and highlight the ensemble's commitment to contemporary classical music.[2] Hope points out that these composers would not normally perform together, but this compilation celebrates both the orchestra and its creative approach to new music.

While Philip Glass's Third Piano Concerto was premiered by the ensemble on the West Coast of the USA in 2018, the other three compositions—Mark-Anthony Turnage's "Lament" for solo violin and strings, Tan Dun's Double Concerto for violin, piano, and strings, and an anniversary composition by Jake Heggie—receive their world premieres on this CD. Ukrainian pianist Alexey Botvinov appears as the piano soloist. Together, these works open up a multifaceted panorama of musical expressions and styles.
