Seong-Jin Cho plays Brahms, Berg and Schubert at Meistersaal Berlin
Schubert, Brahms & Berg
Korean pianist Seong-Jin Cho has selected Schubert's Wanderer Fantasy as the central work for his piano recital in the Meistersaal in Berlin and for his album The Wanderer, which is to be released at the same time. "This is primarily about fantasy, imagination, in other words, artistic freedom," explains Cho. On the one hand, the motif of the wanderer is processed musically through the theme and its variations and developments. On the other hand, the free spirit that finds itself travelling plays a major role for him personally, as a worldwide touring musician. The programme is completed with a piece by Brahms and Alban Berg's Piano Sonata Op. 1, an extraordinarily intense, one-movement work.
