Mikhail Pletnev & Daniil Trifonov: Chopin Piano Concertos
Mahler Chamber Orchestra
Production Date: 30/04/2017
92 Min
The two piano concertos that Frédéric Chopin wrote in his career firmly secured his reputation as a composer of great depth and ingenuity. Poetic, impassioned, and moving, the concertos were written within a year of one another and while being very much in love with Polish soprano Konstancja Gładkowska. Much like the composer himself, Daniil Trifonov displays great maturity and tact, paying attention to every melodic passage and placing emotion in each note, bringing the bravura, brilliance, and virtuosity which with the pieces were written to life. Mikhail Pletnev, Trifonov's self-proclaimed musical forefather, leads the Mahler Chamber Orchestra in this premiere performance of his own reorchestration at the Dortmund Konzerthaus.
