"I channel the situation in some ways, and I never know what the result's gonna be," says Keith Jarrett; and even after more than a decade of playing together, his Standards Trio rarely sounded more spontaneous – and more inimitably itself – than in this mid-'90s session on tour in Tokyo. As ever, the great Tin Pan Alley standards are at the heart of the set list: Harold Arlen, Jimmy Van Heusen, Richard Rodgers and more. But there's also additional material, including a glowing "All The Things You Are" and a jaunty account of Ray Bryant's "Tonk".
