Since its foundation by refugee musicians in the 1930s, the summer opera festival at Glyndebourne in the English countryside has made a speciality of Mozart, with at least one of the great Mozart-Da Ponte collaborations permanently in repertoire. In 2006, Nicholas Hytner's beautifully conceived traditional production of Così fan tutte became an instant classic, with period costumes and sun-kissed settings providing a foil for performances of remarkable subtlety and depth. The cast includes Topi Lehtipuu and Miah Persson, and with Iván Fischer conducting the Orchestra of the Age of Enlightenment, this "school for lovers" has some surprising lessons to share.
