Matthias Goerne
In his new album, Matthias Goerne, one of the most distinguished Schubert scholars of his generation, presents a collection of Schubert songs in a completely new form. Instead of the traditional piano accompaniment, the pieces are performed in orchestral arrangements by Goerne's long-time recital partner, Alexander Schmalcz. The carefully curated selection comprises nineteen songs, including well-known works such as "An Silvia," "Death and the Maiden," and "Erlkönig." The Deutsche Kammerphilharmonie Bremen brings these novel orchestrations to life, lending Goerne's interpretations additional emotional depth through its wide range of instrumental timbres and textures.
