Album insights
Renowned pianist Yuja Wang has released her seventh studio album on DG, featuring the eagerly awaited orchestral album of Ravel's piano concertos. Both works, the famous G major piano concerto and the lesser-known D major piano concerto for the left hand, were composed between 1929 and 1931. Ravel's music, characterized by jazz rhythms, beauty, and aggressive vitality, stands as a unique art form - a fact that Wang deeply appreciates. Describing it as precise as a Swiss clock mechanism yet inherently enjoyable, she emphasizes the pure and simple enjoyment it offers. The album also includes the original solo piano version of Fauré's Ballade in F sharp major, Op. 19. Wang recorded all three works with the Tonhalle Orchestra Zurich under the baton of the young conductor Lionel Bringuier, with whom she recently completed a residency. This recording promises a profound musical journey delivered by the accomplished young pianist, celebrated for her remarkable technical prowess and insightful interpretations.
