Yuja Wang
The remarkable piano virtuoso Yuja Wang presents a highly anticipated orchestral recording of Ravel's piano concertos on her seventh DG studio album. Composed between 1929 and 1931, the recording includes the renowned Piano Concerto in G major as well as the rarer Concerto in D major for the left hand. The uniqueness of Ravel's compositions lies in the combination of jazz elements, aesthetic beauty, and vibrant intensity. "Like a Swiss watch, his music operates with the utmost precision," explains Wang, "while simultaneously offering pure, unadulterated enjoyment." The album also includes Fauré's Ballade in F-sharp major, Op. 19, in its original version for solo piano. This recording was made in collaboration with the Tonhalle Orchestra Zurich under the direction of the young maestro Lionel Bringuier, with whom Wang was artist-in-residence. This musical project showcases the exceptional technical skills and thoughtful interpretive artistry of this fascinating young pianist and promises a profound listening experience.
