Franco Fagioli
With the exclusive signing of Franco Fagioli as the first countertenor in Deutsche Grammophon's history, a significant step was taken for the label and for the countertenor repertoire. Shortly thereafter, Fagioli can be heard in the title role of Orfeo in a new recording of Gluck's opera "Orfeo ed Euridice," released for the first time in its original Italian version and recorded on period instruments. This recording also marks Fagioli's first time performing the title role in a complete opera. His exceptional talent, evident in his three-octave range, refined tone, and technical brilliance, sets him apart among countertenors worldwide. He is particularly brilliant in his interpretation of "Che farò senza Euridice," where he effortlessly navigates the high notes with clear tone and delicate vibrato. Together with sopranos Malin Hartelius and Emmanuelle de Negri, and the Insula Orchestra under Laurence Equilbey, an impressive complete recording was created, available as a double CD. An additional CD with selected highlights complements the set.
