The recording is dedicated to his youngest daughter, Mila, with Lily accompanying him on the piano. The varied program offers both short pieces and arrangements, including the Adagio from Marcello's Oboe Concerto in Bach's arrangement, Grieg's Solveig's Song, Massenet's Méditation, and Tchaikovsky's Valse sentimentale. Maisky's warm, rich cello tone and expressive timbre are a perfect match for compositions by Scriabin, Mozart, Schumann, Brahms, and other renowned composers.
