Yuja Wang. Special
The album "Blue Hour" unites Romantic works by Weber, Brahms, and Mendelssohn, interpreted by the Austrian clarinetist Andreas Ottensamer together with the Chinese pianist Yuja Wang. Particularly impressive is Ottensamer's brilliant performance of Weber's First Clarinet Concerto with the Berlin Philharmonic under Mariss Jansons, which underscores his qualities as a virtuoso soloist. In addition to Weber's captivating Grand Duo concertant in E-flat major, the collection includes Mendelssohn's "Songs Without Words," which Ottensamer himself arranged for clarinet and piano. The repertoire is rounded out by Brahms's lyrical Intermezzo in A major, which reflects the velvety richness of the Romantic era. Released in 2019 by Deutsche Grammophon, this recording showcases Ottensamer not only as a sensitive chamber music partner but also as a technically brilliant interpreter.
