Few works are surrounded by more mystery than Mozart's final unfinished masterpiece, his Requiem in D minor, and it took centuries to unravel the myths surrounding it and the shadowy circumstances of its commission. That commissioner was eventually revealed to be Count von Walsegg, who wanted a work to commemorate his wife – and it was not until December 1793, two years after Mozart's death, that the work was finally performed, as planned, in her memory in the Neuklosterkirche in Wiener Neustadt. This performance, conducted by Andreas Ottensamer, revisits that historic performance, presenting the work alongside Mozart's great final Symphony, the "Jupiter".
