The young Mozart’s genius is on full display at the centre of this programme, streaming live from Jones Hall in Houston, with his elegant and high-spirited Piano Concerto No. 9 in the hands of Jan Lisiecki — firmly established as one of today’s most astounding young keyboard talents. To open the concert, the Houston Symphony and conductor Vasily Petrenko present sweepingly romantic music from the classic 1939 film adaptation of Wuthering Heights, while Elgar's "Enigma" Variations bring the concert to a rousing conclusion, offering, in movements including the ever-popular "Nimrod", a series of heartfelt, affectionate portraits of those closest to the composer.
