Superstar pianist Yuja Wang makes a rare appearance as both pianist and conductor in this programme, streaming live from the legendary Musikverein in Vienna, with the Mahler Chamber Orchestra. They perform serenades by Mozart and Dvořák and, with Wang at the piano, two 20th-century classics completed in the same year: Stravinsky's Concerto for Piano and Wind Instruments, a product of his neo-classical period composed in Paris in 1923-24; and Gershwin's immediately recognizable Rhapsody in Blue of 1924, heard here in the brilliant jazz-band orchestration by Ferde Grofé.
