"For me it was really necessary to leave traditional music behind," says performance artist Limpe Fuchs, and her decades of exploration at the outer limits of sound made her a natural collaborator for Friedrich Gulda – the maverick Austrian pianist and provocateur who founded the Munich Klaviersommer as a meeting place of the most innovative musical minds. In 1986, in this one-off exploration of their shared creativity – or as Gulda called, it their "consonanza personale" – both artists transcend the conventions of their classical roles (Gulda as pianist, Fuchs as percussionist) to create a wholly original, semi-improvised musical experience.
