Ursula Anders & Friedrich Gulda: Opus Anders

In the German soprano and percussionist Ursula Anders, the pianist Friedrich Gulda found an artistic partner whose commitment to breaking taboos matched his own. And in Gulda, Anders found a creative collaborator who understood her on levels that went far beyond the merely musical. Opus Anders was created by Gulda in 1980 as a celebration of Anders's artistry. It's simultaneously a recital, and a piece of fearlessly transgressive performance art: an unsparing double-portrait in which Gulda and Anders strip themselves naked – literally, as well as figuratively – in pursuit of musical and emotional truth.
