Seong-Jin Cho brings one of his signature works to the Konzerthaus Berlin. The charismatic Korean pianist is joined by the European Union Youth Orchestra and conductor Gianandrea Noseda in Chopin’s second Piano Concerto, capturing the composition’s heartfelt passion and dramatic contrasts. Composed while still a student at Warsaw’s High School for Music, Chopin channelled his jaw-dropping virtuosity as a pianist and deep feeling for poetic lyricism into a work of spellbinding beauty. The winner of the XVII International Chopin Piano Competition crowns his sublime Chopin performance with an ideal encore, the slow movement from Beethoven’s “Pathétique” Sonata.
