Album insights

Antonio Caldara's "La Concordia de' pianeti" has been rediscovered and receives its world premiere recording. This piece, a blend of serenade and opera, was composed for the court of the Austrian ruler, Karl VI. The premiere featured the era's top singers, including the renowned castrato Carestini, whose role is portrayed by Franco Fagioli on the album. Unearthed and edited by Andrea Marcon, the composition showcases highly virtuosic arias, breathtaking cantilenas, and celestial duets performed by some of today's finest vocalists. With Franco Fagioli and Daniel Behle, two of the most sought-after voices currently, alongside soprano Veroncia Cangemi making a welcome return on Deutsche Grammophon/Archiv, an exceptional lineup has been assembled. This significant Archiv production release features world-class singers in leading roles, introducing a completely new opera to the repertoire, captured both in live performances and studio settings.
