During the 2021–22 season, director Simon Stone made his Met debut with a new production of Lucia di Lammermoor that reimagined Donizetti’s bel canto tragedy in the modern-day American Rust Belt. In this performance, soprano Nadine Sierra gives a stunning performance as the haunted title heroine, alongside tenor Javier Camarena as Lucia’s lover, Edgardo, and baritone Artur Ruciński as the self-centered and manipulative Enrico. Bass-baritone Christian Van Horn rounds out the principal cast as Lucia’s kind-hearted protector, the priest Raimondo, with Donizetti specialist Riccardo Frizza on the podium to lead the engrossing new staging.
